The Pacific Northwest calls for action as the Rogers Arena becomes the stage for tonight’s encounter between invading Los Angeles Kings and the Vancouver Canucks who are looking to stop the bleeding in what could possibly be one of their worst seasons in NHL history. Can the NHL odds be soothed our way here?

Los Angeles Kings

The mighty Kings at 25-17-5 haven’t been doing great lately. They’re at 3-6-1 in the last 10 games and a half-decent 2-2 when playing away. Fortunately for LA fans, Jeff Carter is the only injured player in the lineup and the Kings have gone 2-1 against the Canucks in the last 3 games so they still hold some sort of an edge. However, before beating the New York Rangers two days ago, Los Angeles was on a 6-game losing streak from which they are hardly going to recover. Vancouver isn’t such a great team either and we’ll look at that in a second but first let’s try to find value in the totals. LA is 5-5 in the Over/Under in their last 10 games and 2-2 when playing away, but the Under is favored in the head-to-head as the record stands 1-2/

Vancouver Canucks

An equally bad team, unfortunately. The Canucks are also 3-6-1 in their last 10 games with the Over/Under also being 5-5 but 2-1 at home. Not a lot to get from this. What we can see, however, is that Vancity is scoring 2.00 in the head-to-head versus LA’s 2.67 and the Over/Under has gone 1-2 in the last 3 encounters between these two teams. Coach Green has put a lot of trust in young players but the problem with that is that they can falter when in a slump and that’s precisely what Vancouver has been on in forever. Between December 30th and January 9th, The Canucks have managed to lose 5 games in a row and despite beating the Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild, they’re coming into this game with two losses on their backs. Both teams are demoralized and substandard. It’s time to go Under!
