Two NHL games are happening tonight and we’re choosing the Toronto Maple Leafs versus Chicago Blackhawks for NHL odds value. At 8:00 PM eastern time, the United Center will become the arena for the Blackhawks defending Chicago from northern enemies in the Maple Leafs, but will this be yet another low scoring encounter?

Toronto Maple Leafs

3-4-3 in their last 10 games with a ‘meh’ 1-1-1 when playing away doesn’t say much for us. What does lead us in the direction fo value is their over/under record which currently sits at 3-6-1. When playing Chicago, we’re talking a 2-1 favoring the Over but in more recent matches we’ve confirmed Toronto to go under in 6 of their last 8 matches, as mentioned previously. We’re talking about a Toronto team that lost 4 games in a row before taking a single win against Ottawa 4 days ago just to lose again on January 22nd. The Maple Leafs will be playing this with caution and we don’t expect risks to be taken at nearly any point of the match. However, is this enough to call it on the totals? Or is the spread a better choice?

Chicago Blackhawks

With Chicago at 1-6 against the spread at home, the answer is… stay away from the spread, please. If you’re not convinced, let me inform you that Toronto is 0-10 ATS so they’re not a spread team either. Those horrible numbers though get better when we look at the totals. We’re talking 5-5 in the over/under for Chicago and 2-5 when playing at home. Low-scoring is the name of the game, especially when considering that Chicago has Michal Rozsival, Marian Hossa, Corey Crawford, and Tommy Wingels all out.
